Welcome to The Tough Life
A blog for the overwhelmed, the over-thinkers, the emotionally exhausted, the big-feelers, the chaos managers, and the people holding it all together with caffeine, dark humour, and pure stubbornness.
This is not a polished “perfect life” kind of corner of the internet.
It’s a real one.
The Tough Life is a personality-led blog about the messy, funny, frustrating, beautiful reality of life. It’s a space for honest conversations, relatable chaos, little wins, hard seasons, and all the random things that make up a very full brain and a very real life.
Here you’ll find posts on things like mental health, parenting, neurodiversity, ADHD chaos, wedding planning, gym routines, weight loss, recipes, reviews, life reflections, and the occasional wonderfully random post that appeared because my brain decided we were passionate about something new at 11:47pm.
In other words: this blog is a bit like life itself. A mixture of deep chats, laughter, survival, snacks, lists, overthinking, determination, and trying our best.
So who am I?
I’m Sharna. The voice behind The Tough Life, someone navigating real life with humour, heart, honesty, and a brain that rarely sticks to one lane for too long.
I know what it feels like to be juggling too much, thinking too much, feeling too much, and still somehow being expected to function like a well-rested, organised adult with matching socks and a calm nervous system.
This blog was created because life can be hard, weird, heavy, beautiful, chaotic and hilarious all at once and I wanted a place that reflects that honestly.
Not a place that pretends everything can be fixed with a morning routine and a positive mindset.
Not a place that makes people feel like they are failing for finding things hard.
Just a place that says: this is tough, you’re not the only one, and sometimes the best we can do is laugh, regroup, eat something beige, and keep going.
What you’ll find here
At its heart, The Tough Life is about connection.
Some posts will be insightful.
Some will be funny.
Some will be thoughtful, comforting, or a bit chaotic.
Some will probably feel like a conversation with a friend who tells the truth but also hands you a snack.
You can expect content around:
Mental health and emotional wellbeing, parenting and family life, neurodiversity, health and weight loss journeys, gym motivation, wedding planning, recipes, reviews, and the wonderfully random detours my brain takes along the way.
Because life does not fit neatly into one category, and neither do I.
A little note on support
A big part of this blog is honesty and community. I want this to be a place where people feel seen, understood, and a little less alone.
There will also be opportunities to get in touch, suggest topics, ask questions, or write in for future advice-style posts. While this blog is not a professional counselling or crisis service, I care deeply about creating a supportive space, and where appropriate I’ll always aim to signpost people towards helpful organisations and resources.
Why this blog exists
Because people are tired of being told to be shinier, calmer, more productive, more grateful, more healed, more aesthetic, and less human.
Because sometimes life is genuinely tough.
Because humour helps.
Because honesty helps.
Because feeling understood helps.
And because there is something powerful about a space that lets serious conversations and silly ones sit side by side.
So whether you’re here for solidarity, a laugh, a recipe, a review, a ramble, a wedding update, some relatable chaos, or just a reminder that not everyone else has magically figured life out…welcome.
You’re in the right place.
Thanks for being here.
This is The Tough Life and we’re doing our best.
